****SCHOOL UPDATES****

***2 Hour delayed start for school on Monday, 10/26/20 school will start 9:45 a.m. until further notice.***

Date: October 6, 2020 To: Pritchett School District RE 3 Subject: Return to School From: Mr. Carwin Based on the rational and evidence as well as reading guidelines from state sources, the Pritchett School District feels that we can resume classes for Junior High and High School Thursday, October 8, 2020. We are looking forward to seeing your students back in school on Thursday with their homework in hand.

Date: September 29, 2020

To: Parents/Guardians of Pritchett School District

Subject: COVID Quarantine

From: Mr. Carwin

There is a form letter along with this letter that is from the State. I am going to try to clear up some questions that you may have.

  • Yes, our High School has a positive tested COVID case

Is this something to freak out about? NO

Is this something to be aware of? YES

Was the District prepared for this? YES

Is anybody to be blamed? NO

The Case is in the High School so everybody that is in class with the student has to be quarantined including the teachers. This means that the district does not or cannot get enough substitutes to cover the classes for Junior High. We chose not to do a four-student cohort pod (for the sanity of students) which means are junior high and high mingle together.

So, our High School and Junior High and Teachers will go into a 14 day quarantine. School will resume for the High School and Junior High on Wednesday October 14, 2020.

The Elementary will continue to come to school by state approval.

This is your choice as a parent to send your elementary student to school. If you chose not to send your elementary student to school you will need to come and get their homework.

If there are siblings in High School/Junior High and Elementary, it is approved by the State that the elementary siblings can come to school. If the older siblings come down with symptoms of covid than the younger elementary students of the same family will be quarantined.

  1. 14 day quarantine means that all involved will stay home for the 14 days and not to be mingling in public.

  2. This means there are 8 school days of homework sent home with your students. This must be done! The 15th is the last day of our first quarter and if no homework comes back for the 8 days, the student grade will reflect it.

This 14-day shut down is not a problem so don't let your student make it a problem by not doing their homework.

As for me as I am a teacher and the superintendent the state has deemed me essential to keep the school running so I will be in my superintendent office for the 8 school days with no elementary student contact.

Ms. Wilson will handle any discipline problems that may arise.

Please do not freak out about this and if you do have questions please call me 523-3387

Mr. Carwin

Dear Parents,

A student or staff member in Pritchett High School has been diagnosed with COVID-19. Each case of COVID-19 is interviewed by public health. As part of this public health investigation:

-The person diagnosed is being kept home from school until they are no longer infectious.

-The person's activities when they could have spread COVID-19 were assessed.

-The people who were close contacts of the person with COVID-19 are instructed to stay home from school for 14 days after the exposure. This is called quarantine.

Because it is impossible to assess all interactions in a classroom and because of the length of time which classes spend together, all classroom members are considered close contacts. Your child was in the same class or group as the person diagnosed with COVID-19, so your child must follow quarantine instructions and stay home from school for 14 days. If you have children in other classes, they can still go to school unless their sibling gets sick or tests positive for COVID-19.

Your child can return to school and normal activities on Wednesday October 14, 2020. During this time, your child should stay home and not go to other schools, activities, childcares, or other activities around other people. Instructions about how to quarantine are available here: https://covid19.colorado.gov/how-to-guarantine#

If your child develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19:

  • Follow these isolation instructions.

  • Have your child tested.

  • Continue to keep your child home from school and avoid other activities around other people Notify the school.

  • Seek medical care and testing for COVID-19, calling your doctor before you show up.

Public Health may recommend or you may choose to have your child tested for COVID-19 a week after they were around the person with COVID-19, even if your child does not have symptoms. A negative test result does not mean that your child will not develop symptoms or become sick after the test. A negative test result means that your child did not have COVID-19 detected at the time of testing. A negative test will not allow your child to come back to school or attend other activities sooner. Medical insurance may not cover the cost of testing for people without symptoms.

Under the Healthv Families and Workplaces Act ( Jt HFWAit ), an employer must provide paid leave to an employee under certain conditions, including taking care of someone else due to COVID-19 precautions, including a child whose school, place of care, or child care is closed or unavailable.
